EEG Guided Neurofeedback Therapy
Neurofeedback is a powerful form of biofeedback and uses EEG sensors on your scalp that are connected to state of the art audio and visual feedback. The neurofeedback session uses video games or other visuals with audio. Neurofeedback can target specific regions of the brain and help you naturally retrain the brainwave dysfunction back to its normal state. Neurofeedback is supported by peer-reviewed research and is used by Stanford, UCLA, UCSD, and many other institutions.
Neurofeedback is a highly effective, safe, non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical intervention for ADD and ADHD. There are 6 types of brainwave dysfunction that can cause ADD and ADHD symptoms. EEG brain mapping is an objective measurement of this brainwave dysfunction. The American Academy of Pediatrics lists neurofeedback as an evidence based intervention that is "equal in efficacy to medication".
Anxiety is often caused by a dysfunction in fast frequency brainwaves that create obsessions, constant worry and over thinking. Depression is often caused by slow frequency brainwaves and can create feelings of low motivation, fatigue and emotional overwhelm. EEG neurofeedback can improve brainwave dysfunction and help significantly reduce or eliminate symptoms.
Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, restless sleep, lack of dreaming and daily fatigue can be due to dysfunction in slow wave sleep cycles. Shallow sleep cycles, sleep talking, nightmares and rarely dreaming can indicate slow wave sleep cycles. Consistently needing too much sleep could be related to underlying slow wave sleep cycle dysfunction. EEG neurofeedback can optimize your sleep cycles and help facilitate restorative sleep.
Concussion symptoms can occur after a head injury. Concussion doesn't always involve a direct head injury. It could be a result of a fall or whiplash. Post-concussive symptoms are often caused by changes that occur in brain wave functions post injury. These issues can create brain function impairment of cognition and contribute to anxiety, headaches and insomnia. Neurofeedback can help train your brain to resume pre-injury functioning.
Headaches and migraines could be symptoms of chronic high amplitude brainwaves. These brainwaves can cause vasodilation which can cause migraines, or vasoconstriction causing headaches. With these brainwave dysfunctions, you can be easily triggered by emotional, biological or hormonal stress. EEG neurofeedback is highly effective in reducing or eliminating chronic headaches.
Anger and Aggression can be due to prolonged stress from school, work, trauma, social medial or video game addiction. Increased agitation and aggression can be associated with certain brainwaves. These brainwave patterns can trigger emotional reactions. Neurofeedback can help normalize the brainwave dysfunction and improve behavioral issues.
Memory problems such as those associated with sleep, attention issues, head injury, trauma and anxiety can be regulated by neurofeedback. This can help improve memory. Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia are highly preventable, but not reversible. An EEG brain map can measure how healthy your brain is functioning. Neurons that continually produce too much electricity can create stress and then eventually start to break down and increase the progress of cognitive decline. An EEG brain map can help identify these deficiencies. An EEG brain map every 3 to 5 years is a good preventative strategy.
